Chatty Baby Brother

At this point I was driving my husband nuts lol until I came across this Chatty Baby-Baby Brother. This one actually talks loud and clear! His hair is kinda thin and his one leg seems shorter than the other one. I cleaned him up as good as I could. I put him a girlie Chatty Baby suit on for now, because his original suit got ripped in the back :-(. Nevertheless he's okay to display.

And where is a brother without his sister? That's right, nowhere. I got him a Chatty Baby sister who is mute. She also had a little bit of Chatty measles on the side of her face but otherwise in great condition. Then my Mom came over from Holland. She loved my doll collection so far and got to sleep in the doll room. I gave her this Chatty Baby Sister because she really wanted to have her, so every time when she looks at the doll, she thinks of me. Awww lol. I don't have any pictures yet of this Chatty Baby.

When my mom was here, she wanted to give me something. I had no clue what. She told me she wanted to give me a Brunette Chatty Cathy doll. Holy crap. I told her if she was sure and she insisted , there was no arguing about it. And here she is.

She is a 1961 Mute #3 Chatty Cathy. As you see, she had a haircut in the past. Therefore I put them in little pig tails. She is very special to me because my mom gave her to me.

Charmin' Chatty The 3rd

And this 48 year old little girl came in a hideous outfit with hat. Her hair had been cut, it was dry as straw but it is very thick. Her limbs are very tight and she is mute. Luckily she wasn't dirty at all so the only thing I did is washing and conditioning her hair. I got her for I believe $21.00.

Later on I got the original complete Pajama outfit and the replica glasses for her. She looks really nice now.

My Second (Non-Talking) Doll

This cutie patootie from 1961 I purchased in June 2008 for $35.10 on eBay. Am I getting addicted here?? Looks likes it. She was presented as a Charmin' Chatty in very good condition. I don't remember the outfit she was wearing when I got her but nowadays she is wearing the original red velvet/lace party dress.

Anyway, when I got her she was a bit dirty and her hair was dry. So I cleaned her like I cleaned my first Charmin' Chatty. The only things that are wrong with her is that her head is loose, spinning like the kid in The Exorcist". And she doesn't talk. Nevertheless she is a great doll to display.

My First Talking Doll

Of course I had no clue where to get such a doll. So I looked on Google and I saw some information. I also saw that you can find them on eBay. Me not being an eBay fan at the time, thought I'd give it a try.
I saw several Chatties but most of them had flaws and couldn't talk. I didn't mind if they were mute.

I also saw Charmin' Chatties who were referred as Chatty Cathy's cousin. Just having such an old, beautiful (and a lil' creepy) would make me happy, I figured. If the doll would look bad or dirty, I'd clean her and I'd do everything it would take make her displayable.
So I talked to my other half; he agreed to get ONE doll. One. Sure. I was okay with that. But since the Chatty Cathy dolls were rather expensive, I concentrated on the Charmin' Chatty at first.

This 1961 Charmin' Chatty in the picture I purchased in May 2008 for $64.99. She was in good, used condition. The big advantage is that she can talk. She came with little records that you shove in the side of the doll. She was a little dirty so I washed her up with Dawn dish liquid, washed her hair with Dawn, conditioned it with my own conditioner and now she looks much better. I even got her the original sailor Charmin' Chatty outfit to wear which was really hard to find.

Dolls

I had a lot of dolls when I was a toddler. I clearly remember my Hollie Hobby dolls...look-a-like Sindy dolls, Fleur dolls... ....you name it (never really cared for the real Barbie dolls for some reason). When I moved out of the house I grew up in, I left them all behind. Shame, shame, shame on me. I'm still regretting it.

30 Some years later I saw a Geico TV commercial with dolls. I loved the commercial; didn't care about Geico. I still don't but I always remembered those dolls. I found out they were called "Chatty Cathy". After seeing them I fell in love with them right away.

June Foray did the voice for the Chatty Cathy. She also voiced for Talky Tina from the Twilight Zone episode "Living Doll". Talky Tina is a non-talking Vogue Brikette doll. Talky Tina had a special talking mechanism just for the episode.

First Attempt

This is my 1st attempt to seriously write about my stuff. This site will be mostly about me, my life, my environment, my interests and of course dolls. Sometimes I have more time than normal so please bear with me if I don't post often.
